NHU Lockdown & Bank Windhoek Indoor League Update

Dear Clubs, Coaches, Umpires and affiliated programmes,

The State of Emergency will ended at midnight last night, allowing us to resume practicing and playing hockey as from tomorrow. This, however, does not mean that life just switches back to normal. We, as the hockey community of Namibia, must remain vigilant and take the necessary precautions to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and the possibility of a second wave, which could see new measures being imposed upon us.

It is important to continue with the measures as per stage 4 regulations with regards to adequate social distancing, wearing of masks, sanitizing your hands and equipment, only playing with your own gear and staying at home if you are feeling sick. We expect the Government and the Namibia Sports Commission to announce guidelines for contact sport soon. One of these guidelines might be that a maximum of 50 people are allowed at a venue at any given time. We therefore suggest that you adhere to these restrictions already, until we receive the official notification from the NSC.

All these measures are in place to protect us all, and we trust that you understand the importance of adhering to these guidelines. We are planning to finish the indoor league during the second half of October. This will allow all clubs enough time to practice and get match fit. I will send out a separate email about the indoor league tomorrow morning. Enjoy your hockey and please stay safe. Regards Jens

Secretary NHU
