PICTURED TOGETHER ARE THE NAMIBIA & SAINTS HC PREMIER LADIES HOCKEY STARS WHO RECENTLY QUALIFIED FOR THE FIH INDOOR WORLD CUP TO BE HELD NEXT YEAR FEBRUARY 2022 IN BELGIUM.
5 of our SAINTS Premier Ladies players: Tara Myburgh, Gillian Hermanus, Sunelle Ludwig, Danja Meyer and Azaylee Philander, represented Namibia at the recently held Africa Indoor World Cup Qualifiers held in Durban, South Africa last weekend. Although the ladies lost there 1st two games against South Africa, they made the FINAL by beating Botswana twice.
The Namibia Ladies Ranked 1 in Africa again validated there status as Indoor champs by beating the Star Studded South Africa Ladies 2-0 in the Final. The Game was intense with both sides playing their hearts out until Namibia managed to go ahead thanks to a Penalty Corner. Hanging on to their lead the Namibian Ladies can thank the Saints Premier right defender Sunelle Ludwig for giving them an edge when she scored Namibias second and deciding Goal. SA tough back but could not get on the score sheet thanks to Namibias great defence line comprising of Gillian Hermanus and Sunelle Ludwig as well as a performance by Namibia Goalkeeper Petro Stoffberg her keep a clean sheet to again earn Namibia the title of Arica Champions and secure a slot at the 2022 FIH Indoor World Cup.
The Namibia Men represented by 7 Premier Men players were not so blessed as the Ladies and unfortunately lost to the SA Men 1-4 in the FINAL.
